MIRAGE (Èëóçè¼à)
Movie from: 2004
Duration: 103 minutes
Director: Svetozar Ristevski
Screenplay: Svetozar Ristevski
Leading Roles: Vlado Jovanovski, Marko Kovachevic, Mustafa Nadarevic

Content: The foundation of the story is the fall of a family as a result of the transition and the military activities in
Macedonia (it can be applied to any other country in the region). Teenager Marko grows into a thoroughly unhealthy milieu: the father is
a drunkard and the mother has long ago lost contact with the world, the sister is an egoist caring about her interests only. The only
person giving him hope in future is his teacher in Macedonian who encourages Marko to write poetry. This situation, however, demonstrates
to be unsuitable to Marko’s expectations. His acquaintance with a mercenary will teach him how to take Law in his hands. In this film,
the family and the school are used as a metaphor for the sick society that destroys everything that was good and innocent about Marko,
taking away from him his dreams to such an extent that the boy will want to revenge himself at a certain point.
