Synopsis:

Spring 2001…a civil war is raging in Macedonia...
Trendafil Karanfilov is fleeing his home town to avoid being drafted into the local army. Together with his wife Ruza, he hurriedly packs up all sorts of goods (including his mother-in-law Zumbula) into the family car to go to neighbouring Bulgaria. But that spring of 2001 it was incredibly hot and poor Zumbula perishes en route. Faced with the bureaucracy of transporting a corpse, Trendafil decides to smuggle Zumbula’s body back to Macedonia wrapped in a carpet. On the way home the carpet is stolen.
The search to find Zumbula’s body is a wild journey through the Balkans and the criminal underworld.

Biography:


Darko Mitrevski is a screenplay writer, director and producer. He graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Skopje from the Directing Department. Mitrevski also works as a journalist. In television he worked on the series "Ua Tailors" in 1995 and together with Aleksandar Popovski took part in the completion of over 50 commercial clips, music spots and documentaries as well as political and cultural campaigns. He is also engaged in theatre directing.
