Synopsis:
Two enterprising Macedonians have hatched a plan to buy a bride and secure a passport to the European Union. Their journey is a delightful romp through Vienna's colleges, metro stations, and red light districts with poignant glimpses of what lies beyond the fringes. Eventually they meet Barbara, a young communist who is willing to marry Atanas on political and compassionate grounds, but pursuing a marriage without love proves to be more challenging than anyone expects. The bureaucratic and psychological barriers that these hapless heroes face only highlights how modern day Europe is struggling to be redefined by its burgeoning immigrant underclass.
This film premiered in the Hot Docs film festival 2009.
